FIRST 15 OF 20 MUSIC BUSINESS SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED

For the Future of Music, the students of music business courses and schools are the next generation of entrepreneurs, executives, mini-moguls and industry workers and for 20 of them, IMMEDIA! is granting $15,000 in scholarships to the 9th AustralAsian Music Business Conference to be held in Sydney August 20-22.

Each school is choosing an outstanding student to participate in this biennial music industry conference which features 50+ speakers in nine panels over three days with six keynote speakers. It's the country's peak music business conference with no showcases, no stands or trade fair--just pure networking with some of the top leaders across the music, entertainment software, online and media industries.

Coordinating the AMBC scholarship program is recent TAFE Music Business graduate Jessica Kalucy who went from Ultimo TAFE into an internship and full-time employment.

"But this year, we've kicked it up to another level in consultation with music educators around the country for them to have their own mini-conference within ours--the first time a national meeting like this has happened." Kalucy adds. "With the vast changes in the music business, courses have to keep pace as well as the curriculum and networks." This proposed program is being planned by Andrea Smith of Metropolitan TAFE in Brisbane and Ben O'Hara of Box Hill Tafe in Melbourne.

As Kalucy concludes, "We have had a great track record of supporting music education at IMMEDIA! and those who attended our previous 2007 event have gone on to great opportunities in the music industry here and abroad.
