Welcome to the Music Business Forum. We strive to make this internet community an enjoyable and pleasant experience; one that you will want to come back to and become a part of, if you aren't already.
This is a teaching and learning resource. Please avoid posting content designed to be offensive and make any potential viewer's experience of these sections unpleasant or harmful.
The Music Business Forum is designed to be engaging and pleasurable. To that end, users of this area must adhere to certain rules of appropriate behavior. Use of the Music Business Forum signals acceptance of these rules of behavior and the general spirit they are meant to convey. You agree, through your use of Music Business Forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law. Legal actions can be taken against you. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to Music Business Forum.
Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator or moderator of this forum immediately. The admin team and the owner of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if they determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, please realize that they may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy applies to member profile information as well.
Usernames: You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. We advise that you have been requested by the owner of the Music Business Forum to observe a protocol when registering . All students and former students MUST use the following protocol as their username: Firstname Surname This is so the Administrators of the site and fellow students can identify each member and their posts.
As this forums’ primary use is as an educational tool it is not necessary for participants to be ambiguous or use an alias. Anyone using an alias on this site will be banned. With this user account you are about to register, you agree to never give your password out to another member, for your protection and for validity reasons. You also agree to NEVER use another member's account to post messages or browse this forum. After you register and log into Music Business Forum, you can fill out a detailed profile. It is your responsibility to present clean and accurate information. Any information we deem inaccurate or vulgar will be removed.
Please note that with each post, your IP address is recorded, in the event that you need to be banned from Music Business Forum or your ISP contacted. This will only happen in the event of a major violation of this agreement.
Be Nice!: We pride ourselves in being a tight-knit community that polices itself well, and we want to keep it that way.
Internet Safety: For Internet safety, we encourage everyone who registers in our Forum to keep their email address private. If you leave your email address open for others to see, you are leaving yourself open to unwanted emails. Please proceed with caution. Please refrain from using personal information on the forums.
We believe that everyone has something to contribute to our community. Please be respectful of one another, allow for differences in opinions, and please don't make anyone feel that they cannot post their views in our Forums. We encourage friendly participation from everyone!
Respect is the key on here: Treat others as you would have them treat you.
Respect each other: Just because we don't agree on a topic, doesn't mean that gives anyone the right to get rude. Take it elsewhere. And DO NOT use the IM or Email system to get rude. Take it somewhere else.
*NO FLAMING *
Watch the language: There are young people that come here as well as adults that don't like that type of language. Pornography and offensive content and comments, including religion, race or other such personal topics are not accepted. This includes jokes.
Email / IM abuse: Do not abuse the Email or various Instant Message program functions. This means that if you email or IM someone from the forum, and they tell you to stop, then stop. We will not allow our members to be harassed.
Control who uses your accounts with passwords: If someone (friend, family member, etc) uses your account to harass people through posting on the board or using messaging systems like Email or IM to abuse other members of this forum, YOU will be held responsible.
Crossposting: Please post your topic to one forum only. If it needs to be moved, alert a moderator. If you have posted the same topic twice, either admin or the moderators will delete one of them. You will be advised that this action has occurred.
Baiting: No baiting. Dropping things in the forums just to stir the waters will not be tolerated.
Actions: Don't be stupid. If you can't be mature, find somewhere else to post.
NO SHOUTING: Don't use capital letter just to get your point across or to attack someone else. Your post will be removed. No arguing just for the sake of arguing. There is no need to be argumentative, it is counterproductive.
Modifying and deleting posts: Members at all times have the ability to modify any of their posts, but only admin and moderators can delete posts from the Music Business Forum.
Respect to our online volunteers and moderators: These people give their time freely to this website and believe it or not are human and have feelings. If there are any posts personally attacking one of them it will be removed. If it happens twice you membership will be revoked.
The final word: Admin and Moderators are the authority here. Because the Moderating/Admin Teams do not allow disrespect to anyone, be it other members or someone in the staff. If you have a problem with a Moderator, then take it up with Admin. But take note, that if Admin makes a decision on something - it's final. End of subject. We are fair and we do things for the good of the community. So be aware that you do have some recourse, but in the end, if Admin make a call, it's done.
We do make mistakes as well as members, so if you do feel as though a mistake was made, we are open to discussion in most cases. Simply arguing to argue or fighting because you are upset, is not a valid continuation and will be dealt with accordingly.
If a Moderator or Admin contact you, then you are obligated to reply. If not, then we are uncertain that you are aware of a situation and your membership may be suspended until such time as we are able to clarify. While this is extreme in some cases, it is justified in others and each situation will be dealt with individually. Not only is it a good idea, but it's also a common courtesy. As administrators of this community, we need to be able to contact you at any given time while you are here.
The admin, online volunteers and the moderators work hard and they do not deserve to be disrespected. If any of them contact you, understand that it is not a personal attack, but simply a professional action....as the saying goes, "it's not personal, it's business".
